The Online Atelier Garden Design has brought me a lot of pleasure. What a wealth of information! I followed the 8 OAT modules with full dedication and my front garden plan slowly took shape. With spring approaching, this week it was my turn to discuss the preliminary garden plan in the community. As an accomplished coach, Sofie took the plan to a higher level with her experience and insights, creating the right atmosphere as I always had in mind. Sofie knows better than anyone how to ignite the fire in all her members. It doesn't matter whether you are a layman or a fanatic. For years I had been looking out at a piece of garden during breakfast that was in urgent need of a makeover. There were ideas, but for some reason they remained just dreams. Until one day my eye fell on the title online Atelier 'Gardens in motion' by Sofie Hoste. That required more research. The idea that I could work creatively on my garden myself with the necessary help and without time pressure. That appealed to me and was just the push I needed. Meeting people every two weeks who are also in the same creative phase is inspiring. From the start of the course, a lot of energy and creativity has been released in me. I don't tackle my entire garden but start with a section. This way it remains clear to me. By working on my garden, browsing through Sofie's virtual library, being present at the online garden cafés and using Sofie's knowledge, the ideas come naturally. Step by step I am now turning my dreams into reality. You know that 'what you pay attention to grows. For me, the course should have come my way much earlier. It's definitely worth the investment. For years we have been thinking about new ideas for our garden. We have a growing garden, but since the children have now quietly outgrown the house and garden, we wanted to put our own soul into it. We just didn't know how. We looked for inspiration in books and other gardens, but it didn't go further than an idea. Hiring a landscape architect was briefly an option, but we soon felt that this was not it for us. After much deliberation, we registered for your program. We were shocked by the size of the modules and the time it took to complete them. Our relief was great to hear that we could and were allowed to do it at our own pace. And that was necessary since we both still work full-time. Now we are three months further and yesterday we proudly completed module 4, resulting in a first rough garden plan in which we both have the feeling of YES. We now dare to dream and experiment with ideas because that is the only way to put our soul into gardening. We will continue in the coming period and we hope to be completely ready to start work by the autumn. That also gives us time to go through all the information, and there is a lot of it. Since we are not specialists, it sometimes needs to be given some time to grow. Thanks to this program we have the space to do so. I started this adventure quite unexpectedly. I live between the letters and actually don't spend enough time in my garden. I've felt that for some time. When I received Sofie's offer for the free workshop 'get your garden moving' in my mailbox, I convinced myself to register and then switched to the Online Atelier. I listened and looked at the 8 modules (and the extension material) with enthusiasm and discovered the rich offering of the Learning Network. Everyone around me is amazed at my commitment to the studio, and notes that I reflect on what is there and what could become more and more beautiful - even in other people's gardens... I discovered subtle interventions that change the atmosphere in our garden and the connection to improve the beautiful views all around. It requires doing different things than I am used to: drawing to map out the garden, working on things that I was actually already interested in but ignored. Every now and then I struggle with the measuring and drawing work that is involved in imaging and designing. Surprising is the good advice that is generously distributed in meetings, where there is room for questions and answers about one's own work or that of others. At every new moon you will also be included - if you wish - in a newly created package of information about questions that arose in Q&A sessions... Sofie's creativity seems inexhaustible and she is above all infectious. I am glad that I was persuaded (by myself) to take the step and follow this new path. Christine Dupont

In 2017 I (as a gardener) made the plan for my front garden. 4-5 years ago I hadn't heard much about climate-resilient gardens and biodiversity. It became a sleek design. The plant compartments were provided with plastic root cloths and lots of pebbles (classic gardener). I did the planting in a thoughtless manner with a minimum of research work. I had, among other things. I had no idea that a lot of shade was (is) needed for a southwest-facing garden. At the start of the renovation of my backyard in 2021, I was lucky enough to go into the “garden” with Sofie and OAT. Sofie's organic approach to designing gardens immediately captivated me. It was quite an adjustment because I kept thinking in squares and rectangles. Sofie suggested flowing lines and I am now incredibly happy with this organic design. I did not strictly follow Sofie's 8 module plan. I rather move from one module to another. There is room within OAT to deviate from the standard route. As an illiterate person, I was apprehensive about online studios at the start of my journey. In the meantime I'm used to it and I look forward to the “meetings”. It should be noted that I still prefer real-life meetings, but from an organizational point of view, these online workshops are a great solution. I have spent a lot of time in recent months on, among other things: reading books and looking up plant combinations to create climate-robust, biodiverse and natural plants. I find Sofie's extensive help in completing the planting boxes very valuable. Finally, I like the idea of a “garden in motion”. I'm curious if and how the plants will survive. When I look back on the past two months, I have gone through a lot. It was nice to go through the modules, even though I couldn't get started with everything right away, each time a layer was laid that I could build on. Sometimes I ran into problems, too little knowledge, too little time... That didn't stop me from continuing, so I noticed that I had taken a step each time. Where I got stuck was not being able to make a choice about what I really want. (haha, where else have I come across this). I like many things and now finding what really fits in this garden is always a balancing act that I am still practicing. What went well was persevering, continuing and letting go of what didn't work. The modules certainly helped me with that. I've written down a lot of ideas that I'm currently piecing together.
